La sesión sufrió algún cambio de última hora, pero en general el balance yo creo que es muy satisfactorio del encuentro con estudiantes de Trabajo Social de otras latitudes.
En esta entrada colaborativa iremos reflejando nuestras impresiones sobre la misma.
Abrió la sesión Rosalía Mota López, Jefa de Estudios de Trabajo Social de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid, para dar la bienvenida a nuestros visitantes, que venían acompañados de la Profesora Nienke Boerdijk
A continuación hemos tenido la oportunidad de explicar el contenido y metodología que utilizamos en la asignatura Trabajo Social y Cooperación al Desarrollo.
Por las preguntas efectuadas, les llamó la atención del uso que hacemos de las redes sociales como complemento a los contenidos que se imparten en el aula, así como los distintos componentes que conforman la nota final.
La siguiente presentación corrió a cargo de Anne Dorte Dyreby y de Marta Velasco Rodríguez que hicieron una exposición sobre la Cooperación Española, líneas y países prioritarios, financiación, etc.
Tras esta parte más teórica y expositiva tuvimos un pequeño descanso para tomar un café y supuso un momento más informal de toma de contacto entre profesores y alumnas.
Reanudamos la sesión con una parte más interactiva y de trabajo en grupos, sugerida por nuestros visitantes.
Se formaron seis grupos, en los que se entremezclaron estudiantes de la Universidad de Rotterdam con estudiantes de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas.
Ellas ya llevaban unos días en Madrid visitando distintos recursos sociales y tenían observaciones y preguntas que hacer a las estudiantes sobre sus percepciones y dudas relativas a la gestión del trabajo social y de los recursos sociales en España.
En un momento determinado me llamaron para participar en el grupo tres, y para comentar sobre las barreras arquitectónicas que habían observado sobre todo en la parte del Madrid más antiguo.

For second consecutive year we are looking forward to receive a group of teachers and students who are coming all the way from Rotterdam’s University of Applied Sciences-Social Work School (Holland). The students of Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid we’ll receive them as part of the activities in Social Work and Development Cooperation class.

This year our class is composed only by women, whose 66% are international exchange students and 34% are local students who are studying Social Work.

The international students are from Colombia, México, the United States, Canada, Denmark, Switzerland and Australia.

This year, as a compliment of in-person class, we chose to use social networks as part of the contents and participation of the subject. With this porpoise we are using the “hashtag” or tag #TSyCD to publish all of the contents we share in our Facebook webpage and community.

In this Facebook community we share news, videos, articles, images or projects of persons and organizations related to our subject topics. We invite you to join our community and give us a “like” to start sharing this new way of learning with us.
We also established a series of digital dialogues trough YouTube. This bring us the opportunity to meet different projects and people who are working for social development or humanitarian aid, then the students can ask with some questions and get to solve their doubts and curiosities about this subject.
We also share contents in Twitter, using our hashtag #TSyCD and a Pinterest board you should follow.
Our sessions have a conventional way, but we also try to promote active participation and in occasions we also like to have special guests, as your visit will be. In other occasions we´ll be going to visit a different place that could be of interest for our subject topics.
For the session we will be sharing with you on March 26th we are having another special guest, Inmaculada Montero Luque, who is working for European Commission in EuropeAid in Brussels. This activities will be part of our subject topics as European Union Cooperation Development.
We will also have an exposition on behalf of Rotterdam’s University students about Dutch Red Cross and other International Cooperation Projects, then students from Comillas Pontifical University will be talking about the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.

This way we are looking forward to understand at least the main action lines of the European Union as the world’s major donor for human aid and development cooperation, and also other national organizations and agencies action for development.

To the students and professors at the University of Rotterdam:
On behalf of the students in Trabajo Social y Cooperación para el Desarrollo I would like to say to you that we are very excited to have you visit us. We know the experience will enrich our learning experiences and expand our knowledge of this subject. We wanted to send you this letter before your arrival to let you know a little bit about our class with Professor Fernando Cuevas, what we are finding interesting and exciting.
The clase is abbreviated as TSYCD. We use this abbreviation as we work with social media because we see the important connections between development and social media. In this class we have delved into the study of concepts and principles that make development and community projects work and the possibility for future transformations and improvements in our world, all the while putting this in the context of social media.
So far we have been sharing knowledge and experiences from our own countries, since many of us are from abroad: including Australia, the USA, Canada, Colombia and Mexico. Our professor has used interesting and unique ways of teaching this theme including emphasising the importance of social media. Each week we use Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Pinterest, and more to communicate with each other and others and to share information or ideas. We would like to invite you to join our “digital community” on Facebook “TSyCD” and in Twitter using the hashtag #TSYCD. In this way you will be able to learn more about our class and what we are discussing before your arrival.
